The VTCT Skills Level 4 Certificate in Micropigmentation is an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for beauty therapists.

This qualification is based on beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.

Entry onto this qualification must be via previous attainment of a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline prior to undertaking this qualification. Your centre will have ensured that you have the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification.
 

Why is this qualification most suitable?


This qualification is the only Level 4 qualification offered by VTCT Skills in Micropigmentation. The VTCT Skills Level 4 Certificate in Micropigmentation is about using micropigmentation, a form of cosmetic tattooing to create make-up effects to enhance facial features. This qualification requires learners to develop skills to carry out micropigmentation treatments. This qualification allows learners to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.
 

What does this qualification cover?


This qualification has been specifically designed for the 18+ age groups, builds on existing knowledge and understanding of therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare learners for employment. Learners will have their skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.

This qualification will require research; it includes the skills involved in providing the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment, tailored to suit individual client needs, use micropigmentation techniques and manage the health, safety and security of the salon. - the full list of units is presented in the learner Record of Assessment book (ROA) (specification). These units are mandatory.

When you have successfully completed this qualification you will be in a position to either aspire to promotion, as an advanced beauty therapist providing micropigmentation services

The VTCT Skills Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy is a vocationally related qualification that will prepare you to gain employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry on to this qualification can be via previous attainment of a beauty therapy qualification at level 3.

This is a vocational qualification which builds on beauty therapy skills to allow you to develop an enhanced repertoire of advanced specialist beauty therapy techniques to prepare you for employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist. The advanced techniques covered in the mandatory section of this qualification include: laser and light treatments for hair removal, laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation, microdermabrasion techniques. You will also gain knowledge and understanding of dermatology and microbiology, physiology of ageing, management of health, safety and security in the salon, quality management of client care and salon management. You will also have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge and skills by selecting from a range of optional units, including: research, IT and data handling, marketing, cultural social and technological influences on beauty-related industries, public relations in the hair and beauty sector.

This qualification will qualify you to gain employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist. This is the only VTCT Skills qualification in advanced beauty therapy.
 

Who supports this qualification?


This qualification is based on the Habia National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the leading professional association representing owners of hair and beauty salons, the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) as being fit for purpose to prepare you for employment as an advanced senior beauty therapist. Description

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; how to provide manicure and pedicure treatments and how to apply and maintain nail enhancements. 

To further enhance your practical skills you will have the opportunity to choose from the following practical units; the application of airbrush designs for nails, enhancing nails using electrical files, application and design of nail art, how to display retail stock to promote sales in the salon, how to promote both products and services to salon clients.

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Make-up Artistry will enable you to work as a professional make-up artist. 

You will gain skills and knowledge in instructing clients on make-up application, and media make-up including applying small ready-made prosthetic pieces, fashion and photographic make-up, camouflage make-up, face and body art.

Level 3 Diploma in Women's Hairdressing

Description

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques in the following units; the creative art of cutting women’s hair, the artistic skill of colouring, imaginative dexterity of styling and dressing hair, and how to provide effective consultation support for colleagues. 

To develop your skills further you will also be given the opportunity to choose from the following practical units; the creative skill of hairdressing design or bridal hairstyling, the intricate work of making a hair piece or adding hair extensions, the technical colour correction unit, creating movement and curls through the perming techniques and how to develop your human resource management skills. 

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of monitoring health and safety whilst working in the hairdressing industry. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.

VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering

Description

Who is this qualification for?

The VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering is an occupational qualification that provides you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as an employed and/or self-employed barber able to work on hair combining a variety of different technical skills. This qualification is ideal for those who hold a hairdressing or barbering qualification and work in a commercial barbershop/salon

Why is this qualification the most suitable?

This qualification covers specific skills necessary to work as a senior hairdresser in the men’s/barber hairdressing industry. The qualification builds on existing knowledge and understanding of hairdressing and develops more detailed and enhanced technical skills necessary for employment. Your skills and techniques will be assessed in a real working environment.

What does this qualification cover?

There are four mandatory units in this qualification for you to study including:

  • Provide client consultation services
  • Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques
  • Design and create a range of facial hair shapes
  • Provide shaving services

 You will then be able to select a minimum of two optional units from a range of 10 units which includes: 

  • provide specialist hair and scalp treatments; 
  • colour and lighten men’s hair; 
  • hair colour correction services.

Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to become a State Registered Barber (SRB) with The Hairdressing Council.
